Guilty as Charged

I'm feeling pretty nervous as the next round kick-off get closer and closer. I love love love this program and even after achieving such pleasing results last round, I'm starting to feel sceptical about being able to shift these next eight kilos.
Between rounds, I have managed to maintain my weight - which I am thankful for. BUT I really wanted to hit 75 by the start of next round. Over the past 4 weeks, my housemate and I have continued to eat meals provided to us in the first round. We've put together our shopping list just like Mish does for us and - holey crackatoa! That is time consuming.... so I am grateful that this is done for us throughout the round. I've been exercising pretty consistently, except for last night: I worked back later than expected, missed spin class and consequently I transformed into the Biatch from Hell! But I didn't go to them gym then did I... so I have no-one to blame but myself.

Guilty as Charged: My snacks and drinking habits have not been as disciplined as they could or should be. Soooo I am laying down the law. With you, the reader, as my witness.  I am pleading guilty to the following charges:

Charges: Durbs

Excess consumption of luscious cupcakes at work
(I'm a hairdresser and we give these to our clients with their cuppa...one for them one for me, one for them one for me...)

Celebrating unnecessarily with red wine  and cheese.
(It's warming in the winter, it's the reward after a long day at work - and it's also high in calories-especially when there's cheese.  Woe is me.)

Failure to reduce Latte intake! GUILTY I'm shocking with this one - especially when I am bored/struggling to get through the day.
Did you know that 1 skinny Nespresso latte is about 100cal... well there goes my morning snack! I'm pledging to my fellow 12WBT'rs that I will have MAX 2 Lattes per day. I'd like to limit it to one.... but I'm scared I may disappoint - I will try tho!

MASS MURDER in the first Degree- Victims: All Known Chocolate Bars
Chocolate...nom nom nom nom. "I did it  and do it for LOVE your Honour" If I could have its babies I would.
(I must L.E.A.R.N to save chocolate for a special occasion - my weekly treat snack. I plan on including the purchase of this into my weekly shop - then I will allocate its day of consumption. You know how Mish says that we can have one treat meal a week?! and we all get so excited for this and plan it like the day after the last?!.. well I can see this happening with my chocolate bar.)

Waaa!

Well I'm sitting on the couch fully dressed, ready for my run. Except the anxiety is killing me. I'm so bloody scared about going for this run on my own. So so ridiculous. Sooz is away until later this evening and so the big one is left to me and me alone. I know I am being pathetic because 5km on my own I will do happily, but the thought of an 8km... shite!
I am writing this to psych myself up!
JFDI DURBS!
Just go and do it!!!!
NOW.

OK I go...

UPDATE ...............
I just ran 10km's I cannot believe it! So SO So Happy!!!

This was today's Adventure Run Route:

My Man Hands

The sun has been shining in Melbourne this week, so no excuses for not getting out there and pounding the ole pave-o.
Yesterday I did my run in the morning and gawd that hurt. I'm currently following the Run Melbourne 10km training program which is really good. You can check it out on their website. I had to run 30mins and at about 3mins I'd had enough. The funny thing about running is, it's the first bit that hurts the worst. Until you find your rhythm. At this stage it takes me a good kilometre and a half to get the groove. I spoke to my running partner Sooz and she agrees. That first part's a killer. So my advice - from one beginner to another PERSEVERE!
Anyways, about my man hands.... I've been doing some weights of late also. An amateur attempt but hey! Gotta start somewhere. I have been concentrating on my arms and back more so to give my legs a rest day in between. I start by warming up on the rowing machine, and then several sets of exercise with dumbbells and weight bar. But I think I can blame the lovely appearance of my hands on the rowing machine.... run a check on these babies......
Pretty hardcore huh?!?! huh?! Can you even see them? HA! I was pretty impressed initially. Now, looking at this photo - lols - whatta whussibub. Feeling pretty tough however and may have to get myself some of those "I'm a regular gym junkie and I do weights" gloves. YESssss love looking like I know what I'm doing.

Get on board!

Last round I was so lucky to have my housemate Nicolle on board 12WBT with me which was so fantastic because it made arranging/cooking meals soooo much easier.
I also had one of my oldest friends Sooz as my running buddy. When we started running I couldn't even hit 1km. AND NOW well, we did our big Sunday run - 8km non-stop, averaging 6min kms. I'm a bit stiff today he he he.
I've been using StepWhere to map out runs prior to commencing them. I am one of those people that get uber bored running the same track over and over. Sooz and I call these runs "adventure runs". We have decided that running through the city is awesome - you forget that you're struggling because you're too busy people watching (another of my fave pastimes). Check out yesterday's route: The loop begins near the corner of Punt Rd and Alexandra Ave, over to Olympic Boulevard, Round the MCG, then into the city and back out.

But the most exciting thing is that now Sooz and my other bestie Sarah have joined 12WBT round 2! YAY I really am so excited. I love these girls and I cannot tell you how motivating it is to go running or working out with a pal.
Here's a photo of us at the WORLD RECORD breaking workout on Saturday. Nicolle and I dragged them along as our guests, and I guess to thank them for their support during the first round. They were totes excited to see how enthusiastic everyone was on Saturday - Thanks guys! Especially team VIC whooo! Now they're on board too. So watch this space - we're gonna be a bangin' bunch of besties by the end of this round.
(L-R: Sars, Sooz, Me, Nicolle)
If you've got amazing friends like this GET THEM ON BOARD! Even if it's just to meet up once or twice a week for a walk or a run. You never want to let them down and when you're not feeling the mojo like they may be, its amazing how contagious energy can be!
I can't believe how much we've all changed. We used to get together for wine and cheese (yum) and now its for circuit sessions and runs! Cripes!!!! Is it age??? ha ha ha

Here's another snapshot of my favourite girlies working out! Love the red faces and enthusiasm!

In the beginning!

Well well well, I'm BAAACK! I can't begin to tell you all how much I love this program. For those that have already completed a round, well, you know. For the newbies, I am so excited for you.
I completed my first round of 12WBT in May 2012, after doing round 1, and I loved it. Already I am a completely different person, I love exercise and I'm the lightest I have been in many years.
I'm going to start my introducing myself.
My name is Emma, aka Durbs, I'm 30 and I live in Melbourne. I love food, beer and socialising. These "loves" of mine were also my demise. Overeating, overdrinking, and too busy for exercise.

That was until 12WBT came into my life.
In the beginning of Round 1, I was extremely focused, particularly during pre-season. During this time I dropped 4kg's WOW. After completing the program I am ecstatic to share with you all that I have lost 12.2kgs. I went from 89.2kg to 77kg.

This is me before the program,
Doin the ol' double singlet to hold my big belly in place. Yuck I hate this photo!
But!
I love the next. The following was taken at my best friends wedding in April, 2012. 10kg's lighter and soooo much happier!

I plan on using this blog as a tool to keep myself motivated and excited. I'm also writing it because I truly believe that sharing our stories and experiences really does help all of us to reach our goals and maintain our spirits.

I hope that I can do for other newbies what the experienced 12WBT'rs did for me. Please feel free to ask me questions, share your stories and support me (I need it too!) as I get going on this next journey.

I wish you all the best of luck on your journey to a healthier and happier life!
